Cherry Walnut Scones

Scones are one of my favorite breakfast treats. This is an easy and yummy recipe for a leisurely Sunday morning brunch.

Cherry Walnut Scones

Ingredients

·         2 Cups all-purpose flour

·         2 teaspoons baking powder

·         1/2 teaspoon baking soda

·         1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

·         1/2 teaspoon salt

·         2 Tablespoons granulated sugar

·         8 Tablespoons cold butter

·         yolk of one large egg

·         3/4 Cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt

·         1 Cup dried cherries

·         1/2 Cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375

·         Combine dry ingredients

·         Cut in cold butter

·         Add egg and yogurt

·         Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead in cherries and walnuts.

·         Cut dough in half.

·         Pat each half into a 6-inch circle, cut into 8 wedges.

· On a cookie sheet, brush with egg white and sprinkle with sugar.

·         Bake 18-22 minutes, until medium golden.
